The short version
The KNZŌ app does not collect your data. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, and does not contact a licence server. It never sends anything about your files, your disk, or your email anywhere. Purchase and licence-delivery services process the limited order data described below.
What follows is the detail, including the two places where data does exist: software updates, and your purchase.
What KNZŌ reads on your Mac
KNZŌ reads a great deal — that is its function. With Full Disk Access it can read file names, sizes, and dates across your disk, and it inspects your Apple Mail library, including message counts and mailbox names.
All of this stays on your Mac. It is held in memory and in files inside ~/Library/Application Support/KNZO/, which belong to you and which you can delete at any time:
turbo-index.sqlite— An index of file paths and sizes, so repeat scans only read what changed.saved-scans.json— Snapshots of past scan findings.cleanup-history.json— A record of what KNZŌ moved and where, so you can restore it.licence.txt— Your licence key, if you have entered one.
None of these is transmitted anywhere. KNZŌ has no code that uploads them.
Software updates
KNZŌ checks for updates using Sparkle, a widely used open-source updater. It asks your permission before the first check.
An update check is an ordinary web request to mrnobodyla.github.io, hosted by GitHub Pages. As with any web request, the server sees your IP address, the time, and the version string in the request. We do not add anything to it — no identifier, no licence key, no information about your Mac beyond what any web request reveals. We do not receive these logs; GitHub does, under GitHub's privacy statement.
You can turn updates off. KNZŌ then makes no network requests at all.
Your licence
Licence verification is entirely offline. Your key is checked against a public key built into KNZŌ. Nothing is sent, and we cannot tell how many Macs you have installed on, or whether you have installed at all.
Your licence key contains your name, email address, and order number, signed by us so it cannot be altered. That information was already yours and ours from the purchase; embedding it in the key does not send it anywhere new.
Your purchase
Purchases are handled by Gumroad, Inc., which acts as merchant of record and processes the payment. Gumroad collects the information a sale requires — including name, email address, billing and transaction information, payment details, and location-related information — under its privacy policy: https://gumroad.com/privacy.
We never see or store your full payment details. Gumroad sends our automated licence issuer the sale information needed for fulfilment, including your name, email address, sale identifier, and the product you purchased. We use that information to:
- issue your licence key;
- answer your support emails;
- process a refund;
- meet our own tax and accounting obligations.
That is the whole list. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for marketing you did not ask for.
The automated issuer runs on Cloudflare and stores the sale identifier, name, email address, licence plan, seat count, expiry date, and issued key so a retried purchase notification resends the same key rather than creating a second one. Resend processes your name, email address, and the licence email in order to deliver it. We keep order records for as long as needed for fulfilment, refunds, fraud prevention, accounting, and applicable legal obligations, and support correspondence for as long as it is useful to answer a follow-up.
If you email support, we hold that email. If you subscribe to a mailing list, we hold your address until you unsubscribe, and every message includes an unsubscribe link.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — in particular in the EU, the UK, and California — you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, obtain a copy, or object to our use of it.
Email support@swazzi.app and we will do it. There is no form and no fee. Because the only data we hold is your order record and any email you have sent us, these requests are usually answered the same week.
For purchase data held by the merchant of record, you can also contact them directly; their privacy policy explains how.
Children
KNZŌ is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
