Scanning is free and stays free. Every finding, and every explanation behind it, costs nothing. So does repairing Apple Mail’s failed index migration. A licence unlocks the remaining actions that change your Mac. And restoring anything KNZŌ has moved never needs a licence at all — we’re not going to hold your files.
What it does
KNZŌ takes a full inventory of your disk, explains what it found, and lets you decide what happens next. It reads storage, application leftovers, duplicates, maintenance state, and Apple Mail’s own index — then reports, in plain numbers, what each thing is costing you.

KNZŌ does not scan for or block malware. The Security Check reports what Apple’s own protections are doing. It is not antivirus and does not claim to be.
Apple Mail
Apple’s own Mail LibraryUpgrader cannot complete this migration. The rebuilt index is already on disk; macOS simply cannot move it into place. KNZŌ can, and verifies the result before telling you it worked.
KNZŌ also finds the mailboxes Mail keeps to itself. When Mail can’t match a message to an account — after a crash, or an interrupted sync — it moves it into a mailbox it never tells you about. Mail creates these mailboxes itself, names them itself, and then never surfaces them anywhere in its interface. KNZŌ matches Apple’s own naming exactly, so it reports Mail’s mailboxes and never mislabels one of yours.

On a healthy Mac, the Mail report is small — and that is the correct answer. Mail’s size is mail. If something claims it can free gigabytes from your mail, it is either wrong or it is deleting your messages.
What KNZŌ will never do
- It never deletes anything. Files it moves go to the Trash or to a backup folder it creates, and every one is recorded with its original path.
- It will not touch Recovered Messages. Not now, not behind a setting. It shows them to you and opens the folder; the decision is yours, in Mail, where you can actually read them.
- It refuses to modify a Mail library while Mail is running.
- Restoring never requires a licence — including files moved under a licence that has since expired or been removed.
Privacy
No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporting. No licence server. KNZŌ holds Full Disk Access and uses it to read your disk and tell you what it found — on your Mac, and nowhere else. Your licence is verified offline.
Free and licensed
Scanning, findings, the explanations behind them, and Recovery are free forever and need no licence. So is repairing Apple Mail’s failed index migration — macOS caused that one and cannot finish the fix itself, and we are not going to charge you to undo it. A licence unlocks the remaining actions that change your Mac — moving files to the Trash, Mail cleaning, and maintenance.

Requirements
macOS 15 or later. KNZŌ is signed with a Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and updates itself through a signed update feed.
KNZŌ asks for Full Disk Access, because a whole-drive inventory is impossible without it. That same requirement is why KNZŌ is not on the Mac App Store: a sandboxed app cannot hold Full Disk Access, and a sandboxed KNZŌ could not do the thing it exists to do.
